Shopify Editions Spring '26 includes agent-initiated checkout. That's a shopper letting an agent carry a purchase forward instead of clicking through a cart page themselves. For most merchants, that means new integration work: wiring an agent surface into a checkout that wasn't built for it.
Plekify hotels skip that step. A Plekify store's checkout is Shopify's checkout, unchanged. When agent-initiated checkout ships, it ships to that same checkout. No new plumbing on the hotel's side, no new fee added on top. The hotel gets the capability because it was already standing on the surface Shopify upgraded.
The other half of this Editions cycle is Shopify shipping MCP surfaces for catalog, cart, and checkout — the three surfaces an agent actually needs to move a shopper from browsing to buying. That's a meaningful signal: Shopify is building toward agents as a normal traffic source, not a side experiment.
This is where Plekify's job stays the same as it's always been. Plekify mirrors a hotel's live Apaleo-view inventory and rates into whatever surfaces Shopify supports — catalog, cart, checkout, or whatever comes after. The storefront stays the single source of truth for rooms, rates, and availability, no matter which surface a shopper or an agent arrives through.
Nothing here lets an agent book, hold, or charge a room by itself. What changes is which door a shopper can walk through to reach a checkout that was already real.
