The surrounding country runs from mopane woodland to open floodplain, and guides work all three registers of the park: vehicle, boat, and foot. Morning walks set out shortly after sunrise with an armed, licensed guide, tracking animals rather than covering ground. Boat cruises on the Zambezi focus on birdlife in the morning and often turn up more dramatic sightings by late afternoon, as riverbanks fill with activity in the cooling air. Fishing runs catch-and-release, aimed at tiger fish in the river's channels. A private island offshore gives a further, quieter base for wildlife watching. Central areas include a lounge, dining room, bar, pool, and an open-sided boma for evenings around the fire.
