A lounge holds cushioned seating and old photographs of the village; a second hall is set up for cards and board games with other guests. Dinner is homemade and Omani, cooked by a local family and served family-style around seven, with vegetarian and gluten-conscious options on request. Breakfast leans vegetarian too: eggs, cheese, yoghurt, and continental basics, taken on a terrace with the mountains still catching morning light. The village streets outside are narrow; small trucks pass, but anything larger struggles, and parking in front is limited. Children under ten cannot be accommodated, and stairs and floors here are original, not renovated for ease. The house buys local produce and keeps plastic to a minimum, down to bar soap and refillable bathroom bottles.
