Those plains are regularly crossed by herds of roan antelope, eland and zebra.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe eight cabins are built of pine, each with a fireplace, a private bathroom, and an upstairs level used as a viewing area or for children sharing with adults. Twin beds can be pushed together to make a double. Two cabins connect to form a family unit. Elevated walkways link the cabins to a main building with an outdoor deck, a dining room with a central fireplace, and a lounge.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe plateau supports over four hundred bird species, including range-restricted species such as the Blue Swallow, the Scarlet-tufted Sunbird, and the Yellow-browed Seedeater. Game drives run by day and evening. Guided walks and mountain biking trails cover the grasslands at several levels of fitness and distance. Three dams close to the lodge hold rainbow trout; catch-and-release fishing is available, with rods for hire.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor longer expeditions, the Livingstonia Trail runs from Chelinda down to Livingstonia Mission on the Khondowe plateau and is open to groups of four to eight. The Sangwala Trail is a three-day, forty-three-kilometre trek across montane grassland and woodland, with two overnight camps along the route.
