duba-explorers-camp
Duba Explorers Camp

Canvas walls, raised decking, and a stand of old shade trees set the tone here. Duba Explorers Camp holds five tents in the northeast corner of the Duba concession, a private reserve in the Okavango Delta, on an island reached across two gum-pole bridges. Mature jackalberry and leadwood trees keep the camp shaded year round, and each tent has a private verandah, a writing desk, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and double basins. The floodplain surrounds the camp for most of the year, and when the water rises, channels open into lily-strewn lagoons fringed with papyrus. You can watch spotted-neck otters from the verandah in flood season, or listen for hippo calls after dark. The open-sided main area sits under a single stretch of marquee canvas, with dining and lounge space arranged around it. Game drives run by day and by night in open vehicles, and guided walks cover ground vehicles cannot reach. Mekoro and motorised boat trips, seasonal and dependent on water levels, move quietly through channels cut by hippo and elephant, past a birdlife count that runs past four hundred species. Lion, leopard and wild dog work the same ground as resident herds of elephant, buffalo and lechwe. It is a compact stay, with just five tents. Check-in runs from 2pm, check-out at 11am.
