The buildings were constructed entirely by hand over four years, working with people from the local Chope community — the rounded forms follow the dune contours rather than cutting across them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou eat and drink with the Indian Ocean in front of you. Between June and October, humpback whales move along this stretch of coast and are visible from the terrace. Below the dunes, a rocky reef runs along the beach and is suitable for snorkelling. Guided and self-guided walks thread through the coastal forest, past Dongane lake, and down into Dovela village.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe lodge holds three bungalows of seventy square metres each, spaced fifty metres apart in the coastal forest, and four dome tents pitched on wooden platforms among the trees. The restaurant serves both.
