It is a compact operation: 18 rooms in total, each a twin room with its own bathroom, dressing gowns and a heater against the cold. One building holds the kitchen and a communal dining room, where meals are served to guests back from the river; a second houses guest rooms directly. The East Ranga itself is the reason most visitors come. It ranks among the more productive salmon rivers in Iceland, with an annual catch that regularly tops 3,000 fish, most pools fishable with a single-hand rod though two-handed rods and sink-tip lines suit the water well. Beyond fishing, the grounds allow bird watching and self-guided walks, and horse riding and fly fishing can be arranged nearby. Arctic fox, mink and reindeer move through the surrounding country. There is a bar on site, laundry service, and complimentary internet, alongside an airport shuttle for arrivals. Check-in runs from 2.30pm.
