hamanasi-adventure-dive-resort-hopkins-belize
Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort

Built into the coastal jungle south of Hopkins, Hamanasi was designed from the start to put guests within reach of two very different worlds: the barrier reef offshore and the Maya sites scattered through the forests inland. The resort's Adventure Center runs trips to ruins such as Xunantunich, perched on a ridge above the Mopan River, and Mayflower, hidden in jungle near Silk Grass Creek. Both sites date to the Late Classic period. Nearer sites can be visited in a morning; ATM cave, with its calcified skeletal remains and Maya pottery, takes a full day and involves wading through a river to reach the entrance. Twenty-one rooms make up the property, split between elevated treehouses, suites, and beachfront rooms, all built with air conditioning against the coastal heat. A swimming pool sits on site, along with restaurants and a five-star PADI dive facility for trips out to the reef. The reef itself lies a short boat ride offshore, its water clear enough for snorkelling as well as diving. Fishing and sea kayaking round out the water-based options. It is a compact stay, but one built around movement outward rather than time spent on the grounds. Guests can spend a morning inside a limestone cave among Maya artefacts and an afternoon over coral, all from the same base on the Stann Creek coast.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/6776/2747/files/AHRPTWkQak6hG3O1D0yKs3bfE_cbkn_xQqqMl9nELVBxLU2S1a_Wb7nj0OUzmVkXjtC0k4sEnBq0TOpP5v3d7nyRZDFNyFPN8TMZiAiF36mj4qGz3YlDi9UGc1Ztp0fpuXTIPYa_UPXN_w4800-h4800.jpg?v=1785179437
