The sea lies about ten minutes away, close enough for a morning swim or a walk along the shore before breakfast. Hikkaduwa sits nearby for snorkelling, with clear water and, guests report, the occasional turtle. Evenings settle into something quieter: fireflies over the terrace, roosters and birdsong at first light. Ponies and other animals wander the grounds, part of the lodge's rural setting rather than an added attraction.
