Lookout Cave Underground Motel

The Lookout Cave Underground Motel is a family-owned and -operated motel where guests can enjoy the unique experience of sleeping in rooms that go deep into the hillside, up to 50m at ground level and approximately 25m underground. There are 15 motel rooms, two original miners dugouts and a two-bedroom queen apartment, all fitted with modern facilities. Living underground is part of the lifestyle in Coober Pedy, with more than half of the population preferring to reside in a dugout home due to the intense summer heat that can soar up to a scorching 50 degrees. This unique accommodation is a short drive from Umoona Opal Mine and Coober Pedy Opal Fields Golf Club.
