Matai Peak

Matai Peak is located on a mountainside in breathtaking Cheviot, South Island, affording guests sweeping coastal views looking south to the Banks Peninsula, Christchurch and north beyond Kaikōura. Once a working shepherd's hut, this hideaway has been lovingly and respectfully restored to offer guests rustic luxury at its best. The lodge has a capacity of four guests and includes a main bedroom with a king-size bed, a queen bed, a sitting room with an indoor fireplace and an open-plan bathroom with a torrential shower and luxurious outdoor bath. Outside is a covered outdoor kitchen and dining area, allowing guests to soak up the view while cooking and dining. Additional amenities and services include Wi-Fi, an outdoor spa pool and a breakfast hamper, and guests can hire a personal chef to create a special meal. Guests can take a helicopter tour or a 4x4 buggy outing for a full tour of the extraordinarily pastures ending the day at Te Mania’s Saloon Bar for a well-deserved refreshment.
