North Carolina Museum of Art
Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, North Carolina Museum of Art serves the people of North Carolina and all visitors as a premier destination for compelling encounters with art.
The museum's permanent collection had its beginning in 1947 when the North Carolina General Assembly appropriated $1 million for the purchase of works of art, making North Carolina the first state in the nation to use public funds to buy art. A scenic park is on-site and available for visitors to explore, featuring temporary and permanent public art installations by international artists, environmentally sustainable landscapes, colourful and contemporary gardens, miles of recreational trails, and a terraced pond. Visitors can also enjoy dining at the onsite Iris Restaurant.
