The camp was built in 1951 and holds twelve guests in six brick-and-thatch rondavels, each with an en-suite bathroom and a verandah that looks directly over the river. Elephants cross the river in front of the camp. The rondavels have been upgraded over the years — bathrooms are now spacious — but the structure, materials, and general feel of the original camp remain in place.

The Nsefu Sector was declared a game reserve in 1966, five years before South Luangwa National Park itself was gazetted. Robin Pope Safaris has run the camp since 1998, when they spent a year on upgrades before reopening.

From the camp you can go out on game drives, guided walks, night drives, and seasonal boat safaris on the Luangwa. There is also a game-viewing hide on site and guided cultural tours are available off-site. The activities list covers birding, star gazing, and general wildlife viewing. Laundry and airport transfers are complimentary, and a bar and small library are part of the camp.

Mfuwe Airport serves the South Luangwa area; the camp arranges transfers from there.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/6776/2747/files/9802_2F1750191498682_RPS-Nsefu-07-24-53e.jpg?v=1784350816
