Lake Mburo National Park lies nearby, home to zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, leopard, hippo and over 350 bird species; game drives there can be arranged by request. Birders need not leave the property. Species recorded from the balcony include the Rwenzori Turaco, Handsome Francolin, and several sunbirds. The retreat grows and roasts its own coffee, and guests can walk through the plantation to see the process from garden to table. A guided walk follows the River Rwizi, tracing how the waterway has changed over time. The local farmers' market runs three days a week, with produce from over 70 growers in the area. Rooms sit in thatched cottages, including the Mango Cottage with a king bed and lounge, and the Pineapple Family Cottage, which pairs two en-suite rooms for families. Each room looks out to the surrounding mountains.
