Singita Faru Faru sits where the Grumeti River cuts through the open grassland of the Serengeti's western reaches. The lodge is built around a natural waterhole: predators and prey come to drink, and you can watch them from the pool, from elevated viewing decks, or from inside your suite.

Nine suites are arranged across the site — stone, canvas and thatch — with accommodation running from standard suites through to a family option and a two-bedroom villa. The interiors trade the roughness of the exterior materials for something more considered: floor-to-ceiling glass frames the waterhole view, room dividers are mirrored to open the space further, and freestanding claw-foot baths anchor rooms finished in bone, clay and nude tones drawn from locally sourced materials.

The shared living and dining areas, along with an open kitchen and a bar-deli counter, all face the same waterhole, so the sightlines over a meal are the same as from the viewing decks. Game drives go out into the wider Serengeti, but the waterhole means a reliable stream of wildlife arrives at the lodge on its own schedule — elephant, predators and plains game drawn to the water regardless of what the game vehicles are doing elsewhere.
