Swartberg Tour and Traditional Lunch
Experience the beauty of the Swartberg mountains (UNESCO World Heritage site) as you travel to the summit of the world famous, Swartberg Pass. This national monument dates back to 1881 and offers stunning panoramic views of the Little and Great Karoo which you can overlook over 200km with your bare eyes. From the summit guests are able to take a walk in the reserve between 500 different species of fauna and flora. There are several photo opportunities along this winding route which will leave you at awe. After the hike there’s an opportunity to add downhill mountain biking to get the adrenalin pumping. After the tour enjoy Traditional Karoo Cuisine at Kobus se Gat Restaurant. Feast on certified Karoo lamb chops, boerewors, ostrich kebabs, pumpkin fritters and variety of salads and vegetables all freshly harvested from the gardens at the restaurant. Freshly baked Roosterkoek served with homemade marmalades forms part of the meal. Roosterkoek (in Afrikaans – Askoekkie) is a traditional bread prepared on the coals. This is a true Karoo Experience like no other.

Guided tours depart from Kobus se Gat restaurant – only 10 minutes’ drive from the Cango Caves. We ascent 950m to the top of the pass with various info stops and many photo opportunities. At the summit (top) you can overlook the Little and Great Karoo for over 200km with your bare eyes, it is a marvelous place to find your soul.
We give you the opportunity to do a 30-minute hike in the reserve or along the road where you will get lost between 500 different species of fauna and flora. After your hike we return along the same route and give you the option to add downhill mountain biking at an additional cost.
Traditional Karoo Cuisine awaits you back at Kobus se Gat Restaurant.
