Sweet Thorn Retreat has a grand fortress-like appearance, but has never actually seen military service. In fact, everything about Sweet Thorn is calm and relaxed, making it an ideal place to unwind. Its proximity to Windhoek and the international airport makes it an idyllic place to rest up and collect your thoughts before or after a flight - or to go on a shopping spree in the big city, or to take part in any of its activities and entertainment. You can spot birds and wildlife close at hand during a walk or you could take a day trip to a game lodge within easy reach - it’s entirely up to you how you spend your time.

The main lodge is situated further away from the river, its elevation offers a greater view of the Seeis Valley and surrounding Finkenstein Mountains.

This facility has ten ensuite bedrooms with air conditioning and television. Seven rooms are outside the main building. Three rooms are inside the lodge building. One room has 2 double beds, One room has two 3/4 size beds and one has twin beds. All have ensuite shower facilities.

The dining area has a fully stocked bar and overlooks the pool area. Above this is an open viewing deck for guests to enjoy sundowners and stargazing. Quite often some of the antelope (waterbuck, blesbok and springbuck) can be seen down at the floodlit waterhole.

We offer seven fully equiped 'Meeru' tents and three spacious campsites. There is plenty shading and a splash pool for children plus a small playground where the youngsters can be entertained while adults enjoy an afternoon barbecue."
