The restaurant is elevated and serves meals using local ingredients where possible — cassava at breakfast, matoke at dinner, fruit platters featuring Ugandan pineapple and mango. A crafts shop stocks work made by women from the surrounding community.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGuided game drives depart from the lodge into Ishasha's savannah, tracking lions in fig trees, herds of Uganda kob, topi, elephant, and buffalo. Morning and late-afternoon drives offer the strongest chance of sighting lions resting in branches above the plains. Walking safaris cross the immediate countryside with a ranger. Boat cruises on the Kazinga Channel run from the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, an hour's drive north; hippo, crocodile, and buffalo gather along the banks. The lodge partners with the Ishasha Reformed Poachers Association, a local group established in 2018 when former hunters handed over snares to Uganda Wildlife Authority.
