The Palace Suite Sherali, also on the third floor, is done in Victorian style, its wooden sliding panels opening onto views of the ocean and the rooftops below. Smaller rooms, Nadia and Rosewood, keep to 20 square metres with an en suite bathroom of three. Breakfast runs each morning at the Palace Restaurant, with fresh juice, home-baked bread and coffee ground from Tanzania's own plantations. A spa and a small library round out the property. Staff speak English, French, Italian and Swahili, useful given a guest list drawn from well beyond the island. Check-in is at 2pm.
