Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa with twenty national parks and thirty-six game management areas covering thirty percent of its land. Safari trips concentrate in South Luangwa National Park in the east and Liuwa Plains in the west, with accommodation ranging from lodges to mobile camping. Large elephant and buffalo herds are the main wildlife draw. Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River anchors a second trip type: white-water rafting through nineteen rapids below the falls, bungee jumping from the bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe, microlight flights over the gorge, and river cruises. Canoeing safaris run on calmer stretches of the Zambezi. Lusaka serves as the main entry point.
