Established below the Oloololo escarpment where the final scene of Out of Africa was filmed, andBeyond Bateleur Camp occupies a forested edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The property divides into two nine-tent camps set among forest above the plains. Each tent stands on polished wooden floors and opens onto a private deck overlooking the reserve. The en-suite bathroom holds twin stone basins, an indoor and outdoor shower built of stone, and a freestanding copper bathtub. A personal butler is assigned to each tent. In-room amenities include a coffee station, a stocked fridge, and complimentary wireless internet.
The main guest areas feature leather Chesterfield sofas, antique furnishings, and handcrafted artefacts. Two swimming pools provide on-site respite. Meals are served in the dining area or outdoors beneath the stars; port and cigars follow dinner by the fire. Daily game drives depart in open four-wheel-drive vehicles with a professional guide. Guided walks explore the surrounding terrain on foot. Night drives operate within the adjacent Kichwa Tembo concession, the only area in the Mara where nocturnal game viewing is permitted. Hot-air balloon safaris launch at dawn and conclude with champagne breakfast on the plains. Maasai village visits and cultural performances are arranged at additional cost. Healing Earth massages use natural African ingredients. Swarovski Optik binoculars are provided for the duration of each stay. Laundry service is complimentary.
