2 Mile Lodge

Arrival is by the Killarney road, four kilometres out of Kenmare and five miles short of Molls Gap on the Ring of Kerry. 2 Mile Lodge is a bed and breakfast, purpose-built to an architect's plan rather than converted from an older farmhouse, and it reads that way in the proportions of its rooms and the light through its windows. Each of the rooms is en suite, decorated individually, and fitted with a 32-inch flat-screen television, a hairdryer and a kettle with tea and coffee. It is a non-smoking house. Breakfast is served in the conservatory, a buffet of cereal and fruit followed by a cooked menu, and a cot and high chair are available on request. Outside, a garden wraps the building and opens onto a patio where guests sit out after a day on the road. Kenmare itself, close enough for a short drive, holds more than forty restaurants and pubs and trades on its reputation as a food town. Torc Waterfall and the climb over Healy Pass are both within easy reach, along with fishing, riding, golf and biking. Cork Airport is about ninety minutes away, Kerry Airport closer to an hour. Parking is off-road and secure.
