A Pignata
Set inland among the granite peaks of the Alta Rocca, some thirty minutes' drive from the beaches of the Gulf of Valinco, A Pignata trades sea frontage for mountain quiet, though Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio's cliffs sit within reach for a day out. The farm runs alongside the inn. Pigs, sheep and vegetable plots supply the kitchen, and two brothers split their time between hospitality and the land. Rooms come in six forms. Two stone caseddi, each roughly 28 square metres, keep a wood stove or fireplace by the bed and open onto a private terrace. A treehouse for two sits raised among the trees, built entirely in wood with its own bathroom and minibar; a larger family version sleeps up to five with a sliding-door alcove for children. Comfort and Charm rooms occupy the main house and its ground floor, while Superior rooms form a small hamlet of their own around the garden. Half-board is standard, with a Corsican dinner from farm produce each evening and a homemade breakfast buffet each morning. A heated indoor pool opens to the outdoors in summer, and a hammam runs nightly before dinner. Electric bikes, canyoning and the fortified site of Cucuruzzu lie a short drive off.
