Achnagairn Luxury Lodges

Achnagairn Estate is a castle and grounds at Kirkhill, a short drive from Inverness and within reach of Loch Ness. The main house holds twenty-four bedrooms, each with its own name and theme, from a bridal suite of 60 square metres with a whirlpool bath and four-poster bed to the Nookery, a 15 square metre room panelled in timber that smells faintly of an alpine chalet. Restoration stripped centuries of paint from some rooms back to bare plaster, while others keep original fireplaces, Delft tiles, and even a hidden safe. Bathrooms range from marble to circular turret rooms with round baths and round mirrors, a quirk unique to one guest room built into the tower. Beyond the castle, seven self-catering lodges called the Mini Manors sit 200 metres away, each with five or six bedrooms, a kitchen, and its own sitting room. Cortes House, a separate manor on the estate, adds twelve further bedrooms arranged around a central atrium topped by a cupola. A restaurant, Table Manors, serves Scottish and international dishes. Guests can tour the Tomatin Distillery, watch dolphins from Chanonry Point, or play the Royal Dornoch course, all within a short drive of the estate. Across the whole property, the estate can sleep up to 130 people, making it as workable for a full wedding party as for a single family booking.
