Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa
Set into gothic stone cellars dating to the 16th century, the spa at Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa occupies the oldest part of a building once known as the House by the Infant Jesus. Four former townhouses, joined over five centuries, now hold 27 rooms and 19 suites, each finished in Baroque style with marble bathrooms and rain showers. The hotel stands in Malá Strana, on the west bank of the Vltava, a short walk from Charles Bridge and the base of Prague Castle. Rooms carry warm colour and period detail: exposed beams in the Royal Suites, Gothic ceilings in the Alchymist Suite, and city views from the top-floor Deluxe rooms over St Nicholas Church and the castle roofline. You can take breakfast in the inner garden in summer, among flowers and greenery enclosed by the old walls. The spa itself, carved into the ancient vaults, holds a relaxation pool, saunas and treatment rooms drawing on Balinese massage technique. It is a compact stay, at 46 rooms across the four houses, and every one differs in shape and size, following the irregular bones of the original buildings. The restaurant serves contemporary international food alongside Czech dishes, set among Venetian plaster and Murano glass. Check-in runs from 3pm.
