Alpenbad Hotel Hohenhaus

Skiing back to the door defines a stay here: the glacier gondola's base station sits three minutes away, and in season guests can ride down on their skis to the hotel itself. Set on a small rise above Hintertux, in Tyrol's Zillertal, the four-star hotel looks out over the valley and the Hintertux glacier beyond. Rooms and suites come with a balcony and mountain view as standard; suites add a separate living area, and the penthouse runs to 110 square metres with its own Swiss stone-pine sauna. It is a family-run house, and the staff address guests by first name as a matter of course. The spa spans two floors, with an indoor pool, a glacier-view whirlpool, and a sauna village mixing Finnish, steam, and bio saunas. A modern gym and a quiet lounge area round out the wellness side. Younger guests get their own sport hall, with trampolines, a soccer pitch, and a playroom built around pony and go-kart tracks. The hotel closes each year between mid-May and late September, reopening for the winter and early-summer glacier season. Breakfast is served daily.
