Amazon Garden Ecolodge Boutique

Guests arrive by boat, on a fixed morning launch from the port outside Iquitos, and step off onto a lodge built for the jungle around it rather than against it. Amazon Garden Ecolodge Boutique holds ten bungalows on the Río Momón, each configured as a double, triple, quad or family room, with cotton sheets woven in Peru and a bathroom fitted with cold-water showers and simple soaps. Electricity runs on a schedule, in three windows through the day, and there is no public phone or reliable internet. That absence is the point. Days follow the guides on foot into the forest and out on the river: piraña fishing, night paddles, visits to riverside communities, and walks where mosquitoes and heat are simply part of the terrain. Meals draw on produce grown in the lodge's own garden and turn into a table of rice, cassava, plantain and regional sauces built around fish or chicken. A pool sits open through the afternoon for guests back from the trails. It is a family-run stay, and the owners' presence shows in details like loaned rubber boots and a resident monkey that guests mention more than once. Boats leave the lodge for Iquitos each afternoon, closing the loop on a day spent mostly outdoors.
