Walking in off Jernbanetorget, guests enter a building that once ran transatlantic passages to New York and now runs a jazz club, a bakery and a bar instead. It sits steps from Oslo Central Station, close enough to the fjord that a walk to Operastranda beach takes minutes. Rooms range from Standard, at 19 square metres with a queen bed, up to the Triton Suite, a 50 square metre room with a separate bedroom, a bathtub and a balcony facing the Opera House. Original fittings from 1919 survive in several of the Fortuna Suites. Club Gustav runs weekly jazz nights, styled after New York's clubs. There is a covered courtyard called Haven, planted green and open for coffee or a drink. A Finnish sauna and gym sit off to one side. It is a hotel built for people who want the city outside the door, not a stay indoors.
