An on-foot alternative to game drives through the Serengeti National Park, led by a guide with an eye for tracks, birds and smaller details easy to miss from a vehicle. The pace suits photographers and birders, and walking allows a closer approach to plains game than driving typically permits. It is a chance to learn about the ecosystem at ground level, from insects to trees to animal signs, rather than simply covering distance.
