Guests join one of four small groups, up to eight people each, taking part in andBeyond Phinda's elephant conservation project. The experience centres on watching a wildlife veterinarian dart an elephant, then assisting as its radio collar is replaced as part of the reserve's ongoing research programme. Participants must be twelve or older, and the outing depends on the availability of both vet and helicopter pilot. Groups of fewer than six guests are taken out in a private vehicle. A minimum stay of three nights is required, to allow favourable conditions for darting. It carries an additional cost, excluding accommodation.
