Beyond the senses (additional cost)
Night drive using thermal cameras and wireless headsets
Skip to product information
A private safari vehicle fitted with infrared and heat-sensing cameras takes guests out after dark, with a ranger, tracker and cameraman aboard. Live pictures play across four separate screens, one per row of seats, picking out animal movement that would otherwise go unseen in the dark. Wireless headsets let guests pick up on faint sounds nearby, a hyena calling from a distance, a porcupine digging through leaves. The pace is slow and quiet, built around watching and listening rather than covering ground. It gives a different angle on how animals behave at night, and on the technology now used to study them.
