Elephant Conservation Experience (additional cost)

Groups of up to eight guests, four per outing, join andBeyond's elephant research programme at Phinda Private Game Reserve. Guests watch a wildlife veterinarian dart an elephant from the air, then help fit a fresh radio collar while the animal is sedated, part of an ongoing effort to keep four ageing collars in the reserve's tracking programme functioning. Participants must be twelve or older, and the outing depends on the vet and helicopter pilot being available. Groups under six guests require a private vehicle, and a stay of at least three nights is needed to allow suitable conditions for darting.
