andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas
andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas is not a fixed lodge. It runs as two separate mobile camps, each holding nine tents, which are repositioned across the Serengeti at different times of year to stay close to the wildebeest and zebra herds that make up the Great Migration. Where the herds move, the camps follow.
Each tent has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom with a separate w.c., an indoor sitting area, a personal bar, and a private veranda. The al fresco bucket showers are a feature of classic East African tented camping, and the furnishings — rugs, crisp linens, polished brass — are in the same tradition. Two tents connect via an internal passage to form a family configuration, each side keeping its own bathroom and veranda.
Game drives run twice daily and are tailored to your preference; you can also take a single all-day drive with a picnic lunch in the bush. A private vehicle with a dedicated ranger and tracker is available as an add-on, giving you full control over timing and sightings. Hot air balloon flights over the plains operate in several areas of the park. Other optional activities include a visit to a Maasai community and a tour of Olduvai Gorge, the archaeological site where Mary Leakey discovered some of the earliest remains of early humans.
The camp is inside Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, and relocates several times across the year.
