Anjali by Syphon

Arriving in Siem Reap, guests land ten minutes from a city still shaped by Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples, with the hotel set back from the main road behind tropical gardens. ANJALI by Syphon runs 41 rooms and suites, including the Santi Wing, each with a balcony or terrace and several with direct pool access. Design leans on Khmer references rather than imported gloss: local wood, organic bathroom amenities, salt in place of chlorine in the pools. Solar panels supply part of the hotel's power and hot water. Rooms are cooled by intelligent air conditioning rather than left running constantly. Mekhala Restaurant & Bar anchors the food side, with chef Hak Serey, trained at Siem Reap's Paul Dubrule school and formerly of Park Hyatt, running a menu of Khmer dishes reworked with contemporary technique. It is open through the day, from garden breakfasts to dinners paired with wine or cocktails, and the attached lounge runs to 200 m² with a terrace over the garden. A free tuk tuk service connects guests to the city centre. Beyond the property, the hotel arranges tours to the temples, to villages on the Tonle Sap, and to pagodas rarely reached independently. Waste is sorted on site, cooking oil is recycled into soap and biodiesel, and staff run monthly clean-ups of the surrounding street. Check-in guests arrive expecting temples; they leave having noticed the rest.
