Apaga Resort

Stone walls and timber beams run through the rooms at Apaga Resort, set in a valley in Armenia's Tavush Province. The resort sits beside Yell Extreme Park, close enough to walk. Samsonavank Monastery and the Ijevan bus station are both a short drive off. Rooms range from a 25 m² standard double to a 70 m² junior suite with two bathrooms and a separate living area; several deluxe rooms sit in their own cottages, each with a balcony framing the mountains. Every room keeps a private bathroom and a sitting area, and most look out over the ridgelines that ring the property. You can hear the valley's quiet from the balcony before breakfast, which is included and served each morning. The restaurant draws vegetables and herbs from its own garden, plated in a dining room built from the same stone and wood as the rooms. Beyond the terrace, the extreme park runs ziplines across the gorge, a via ferrata route through the rock, and off-road tracks into the hills above Yenokavan village; horses are saddled for rides into the surrounding country. Two banquet halls and a meeting room handle groups and events. It is a lodge built for movement outward and stillness on return, its stone rooms a plain base for the mountains around it.
