Art Gallery Boutique Hotel

Set directly across from the Durrës Amphitheatre, built under the emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD, Art Gallery Boutique Hotel occupies one of the city's most walkable corners, close to the harbour and the old town's main street. The building opened in 2024, and its corridors double as a running exhibition, with contemporary artworks placed at every turn rather than confined to a lobby. It is a small, modern hotel, not a museum with beds. Rooms are split across five categories: superior, queen, executive, deluxe and premium doubles, with views over the amphitheatre, a garden terrace or the marina. Each comes with air conditioning, a minibar, flat-screen TV and an ensuite bathroom, and beds are dressed in plain, plush linen rather than pattern. Breakfast is included and served each morning, and room service, laundry and luggage storage run alongside a 24-hour reception desk. Guests can walk out the front door for the amphitheatre one way and the main shopping street the other, with the Venetian tower and the coastline a short walk beyond. Windows are sealed well enough that street sound, including the nearby call to prayer, stays outside. Check-in runs from 2pm.
