asDunas Lodge

asDunas Lodge is set on a low dune above the Indian Ocean, twenty minutes north of Vilanculos town, facing the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. It is a small property: just nine suites, split between two cottage suites, six safari tented suites and one larger iconic suite, holding no more than twenty guests at a time. Each has its own pool, a covered veranda and a sea view over the archipelago's marine park. Materials run to timber, canvas and thatch, with local art worked into otherwise plain, contemporary interiors. A scenic staircase drops from the main terrace to a stretch of white sand that runs for 10 kilometres, reached by a private stairway; beach chairs, shade and drinks service are set up there daily. The main building holds a lobby, dining lounge, bar and a mezzanine sitting area, plus an infinity pool on a wooden deck. Meals are Mediterranean in style, built around fish bought daily from local fishermen and vegetables from the property's own garden. Rates run fully inclusive, covering meals, drinks, a daily spa treatment and airport transfers. Guests can watch whales from July to September, or arrange scuba diving, kitesurfing and boat trips to the archipelago's five islands. Children are welcome from age twelve. Wi-Fi, run via satellite, reaches every suite and the beach itself.
