Auberge de La Fontaine

Facing Parc La Fontaine since opening more than 35 years ago, Auberge de La Fontaine occupies a townhouse row on the Plateau Mont-Royal, one of Montreal's older residential quarters. The inn holds 21 rooms, each laid out differently, some behind exposed brick walls original to the building. It has no elevator, so staff carry bags and assist guests up the stairs when needed. Rooms range from a queen room with duvet and buffet breakfast on request to a family suite that sleeps up to six across a bedroom and separate sitting room with sofa bed. The Executive Suite adds a therapeutic bath and a view over the park; the top suite includes a Jacuzzi tub and a private balcony facing the same green. Floors are wood throughout, a detail that plays against the brick. The Mont-Royal metro station sits close by, and the park itself supplies the rhythm of the seasons: a skating rink and warming chalet in winter, paddling birds on the pond and an open-air theatre in summer. Downtown and the Plateau's restaurants and theatres are a short walk off. Breakfast is available for a fee, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. It remains a small, independently run address rather than a chain property, and CITQ registration is posted at the front desk.
