Auberge de Oishi

Set on the hillside of Yashima in Takamatsu, Auberge de Oishi pairs a small hotel with a restaurant that anchors the whole address. The building sits within reach of Shikoku Mura and Takamatsu Castle, and the drive from Takamatsu station runs about twenty minutes by taxi; the airport is roughly forty-five. Rooms are few and distinct rather than uniform. The Junior Suite runs to 80 square metres with its own terrace, while the larger Suite spans 106 square metres over two floors with four rooms. A separate wing, the Domaine, adds a four-bedroom suite of 120 square metres with a private entrance and lounge. Each room carries Wi-Fi, a private bathroom, toiletries and a kettle. Breakfast is taken in the room or the dining room; dinner runs later in the restaurant itself, which serves a fixed-price lunch menu and a chef's dinner menu built around the wine list. The kitchen leans on regional produce and turns out its own bread. Check-in starts at 3pm and check-out at 11am. Parking is free. The property also hosts weddings, from intimate dinners for a handful of guests to gatherings of up to eighty, split across restaurant and garden settings.
