Twenty-eight vineyard rooms set at 1,400 metres in Uco Valley
Auberge du Vin is set inside Tupungato Winelands, a 320-hectare wine community in Mendoza's Uco Valley, at 1,400 metres above sea level. The land sits among internationally known wineries, on alluvial soil shaped by wide temperature swings and clean wind off the Andes. Twenty-eight rooms, each individually designed, look onto rows of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, with the snow-capped cordillera behind them. Most open through a private terrace or raised balcony straight into the vines. Every room keeps a wood-burning fireplace and Egyptian cotton linen as standard, along with a kitchenette and a daily breakfast included. Fifteen Vineyard Terrace Retreats sit at ground level; three Vineyard Balcony Retreats, raised a floor up, hold the widest view on the property. The restaurant, Epic, is run by executive chef Patricia Torres, whose seasonal menus draw on high-altitude lamb, a kitchen garden and wood fire, paired against a list of more than 200 labels drawn largely from Uco Valley Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Guests can walk the estate's own rows, ride horses into the foothills, or take a private day trip to Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas. The lodge also keeps its own polo ground, one of very few wine hotels in Argentina to do so. Mendoza's airport lies roughly one hour and forty minutes away by road.
