Blackstone Mountain Lodge

Arriving in Canmore after the twenty-minute drive from Banff National Park, guests find a lodge built around condo-style suites rather than standard rooms. Layouts run from a 350 sq ft deluxe room to a four-bedroom penthouse of over 2,100 sq ft, each with its own kitchen, granite counters and stainless appliances. It sleeps families as easily as couples. Top-floor suites carry mountain views through expansive windows, and several open onto private balconies where the Rockies fill the frame. The penthouse adds a two-way gas fireplace, a library and a steam shower; smaller suites keep things simpler, with slate fireplaces and soaker tubs. Outside, an underground garage keeps cars warm through winter nights, while a courtyard set of BBQs and two outdoor hot tubs give the property a working, sociable edge rather than a purely decorative one. A heated outdoor pool runs year-round. You can hear the wind move through the valley from the balcony before the town below has properly woken. Canmore itself holds more than seventy restaurants within reach, from bakeries to steakhouses, and the lodge doubles as a meeting venue, with a courtyard and function room used for corporate retreats.
