Blåtind Boutique Hotel

Blåtind Boutique Hotel is set in a valley between Stordal and Stranda, named for the mountain rising directly behind it. It is a family-run house of 20 rooms and suites, started thirty years ago by Kristin and Peder and now run day to day by their son Ole, his partner Christine, and daughter Indie-Amanda, who moved from Oslo to take it over. The first stage, eight apartments, was finished in 1995. Five years later came the timber hall built as a copy of a thousand-year-old design, now used for gatherings of up to 45 people, where staff serve dinner alongside stories from the past. A further building phase added a hall for 120 guests, two Presidential Suites, two Superior Suites, two Junior Suites, and eight Deluxe rooms. Rooms are furnished with pieces made in the surrounding district. The kitchen draws on local farmers, and produce from the neighbouring valley, including strawberries the area is known for, appears on the restaurant's tables. Six self-catered apartments sit in a separate building, each with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a washing machine. Guests can hike, fish, kayak, or raft nearby, and the hotel operates year-round rather than seasonally. It is a quiet base, not on the way to anywhere else.
