Thick coral-stone walls and arched doorways mark the building as a former monastery, its 't klooster' name a plain nod to that past. The hotel occupies a corner of the Pietermaai District, a stretch of Willemstad known for its painted facades and slow restoration of old buildings, some still weathered, some brought back. Twenty-six rooms are arranged around a tropical courtyard centred on a plunge pool, with beach beds and lounge chairs set along its edges. Rooms range from compact Comfort doubles of 15 to 20 m² to the Monastery Suite, a 50 m² first-floor apartment with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. Deluxe Rooms sit on the ground floor, several opening directly onto the courtyard. You can hear the district's bars and restaurants from the terrace after dark, Pietermaai being dense with them. On site, Oliva Gastro Bar serves Mediterranean food indoors, outdoors, or in the courtyard, open evenings through the week. The hotel arranges boat trips to Klein Curaçao and sailing tours along the west coast through local partners, and shares courtyard and pool access with a sister hotel fifty metres away. It is a compact stay, built for walking to the old town rather than driving to it. Check-in is straightforward; the historic shell does the rest.
