The hotel stands on the Danube's Buda bank, below the hill that carries the Royal Castle. It is a family-run address of 27 rooms, each non-smoking and each fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows turned toward the river. From most rooms the view runs across the water to Margaret Island, the Pest embankment and the Parliament building, with the Chain Bridge visible 250 metres upstream. Buda Castle, Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion are under a 10-minute walk. The current building opened in 1990, replacing an earlier Hotel Victoria built in 1983 that was, briefly, Hungary's first private hotel after the war before state pressure forced a sale under a different name. Rooms carry Nespresso machines, a kettle, a safe, and a 50-inch television with Chromecast and the main streaming apps built in. Bathrooms run to a rain shower or a tub. Breakfast is a hot buffet, with a gluten-free option on request, served in a lounge that catches the morning light off the water. A concert hall and tearoom occupy part of the ground floor, alongside a sauna and a bar. You can watch the river traffic pass from an armchair by the window after dark, with the Pest skyline lit up opposite. Check-in runs from 3pm.
