Meerkat Safaris at Buffelsdrift

A pre-dawn outing on the reserve, timed to a burrow full of wild, habituated meerkats. A trained ranger meets guests in the Lookout Lounge for coffee and rusks before the drive out, with a chance of spotting some of the twenty-two animal species on the reserve along the way. At the burrows, guests stay on the vehicle and wait for the meerkats to emerge and sun themselves at first light, while the ranger explains their behaviour. The species is also known as the suricate, part of the mongoose family.
