Bugat Resort

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park has drawn travellers out of Ulaanbaatar for decades, and Bugat Resort was built inside it, 80km east of the capital, against the edge of the Khan Khentii nature reserve. The camp reads as a working answer to that landscape rather than a retreat from it: mountains, cliffs, and a river frame the ten tsomtsog gers, traditional in shape but fitted with contemporary interiors and quadruple beds. A further 12 wooden cottages sleep three to five guests each, with floor heating and private bathrooms. It is not a rustic stay. Days here run on a set programme rather than idle wandering. Guests can ride horses, hike, kayak, or take an ATV out toward the cliffs, and in winter there is dog and horse sledding across the snow. A sauna, karaoke room, table tennis, and a sunbathing terrace fill the quieter hours, and staff run safety briefings before each outing. At night, with no city glow for 80km, the sky over the gers turns properly dark. Parking includes winter garages, a small but telling sign of how seriously the cold here is taken.
