Bullara Station Stay

Driving in through Bullara's gate, guests usually meet the animals first, goats and Droughtmaster cattle grazing loose along the road before the homestead comes into view. The station covers 250,000 acres of red dirt country known as Punurrba to the local Yingarrda people, roughly 90 km south of Exmouth and 69 km from Coral Bay. A 4WD track leads out to Exmouth Gulf itself, where tidal mudflats, mangroves and hidden islands hold rays, mud skippers and crabs; guests fish from the boat ramp or head out at sunrise when the water turns glassy and flat. It is a working cattle station first. Accommodation runs from powered and unpowered bush campsites to safari huts, bell tents, the restored 1920s Shearer's Lodge and self-contained cottages such as Hale Hut and Kapock Cottage, sleeping up to sixteen guests in the lodge alone. Days are loose: walking trails through gum trees and red sand dunes, outdoor Lava Tree showers, and a converted shearing shed now serving as the Woolshed Café for coffee and scones. Evenings gather around the campfire or at The Table, a communal restaurant using station-raised beef and produce from Carnarvon. Friday nights bring the station's burger night, with live music and beef patties from Bullara's own cattle. The season runs from April to October, with clear skies overhead and, most nights, more stars than town light ever allows.
