Bwana Tembo Safari Camp

Set outside Murchison Falls National Park in northwestern Uganda, Bwana Tembo Safari Camp occupies land visited by elephants during construction in 2010. The camp opened in February 2012 and is run by the Dal Lago family, who moved to Uganda in 1986. Ten rooms comprise canvas safari tents and brick cottages, each with an en-suite bathroom, shower, mosquito nets, and overhead fan. The tents stand on raised wooden decks beneath thatched roofs. Cottages hold either twin beds or one large bed. The lodge added a swimming pool in 2022 and connected to mains electricity in 2024. Solar panels provide backup power. Wireless internet is available in public areas. Elephants, bushbuck, Uganda kob, and owls move through the grounds. Guides lead half-day and full-day game drives into Murchison Falls National Park to track lions, leopards, giraffes, and buffalo. Boat cruises depart for the Nile to view hippos, crocodiles, and the falls, where the river narrows to seven metres and drops 45 metres through a gorge. Bush camping inside the park began in 2022, with tents, beds, and open-fire barbecues set up for overnight stays. The lodge arranges village walks and visits to the Panyimur hot springs.
