Self-guided white and red trails through tropical dry forest
Skip to product information
Two marked routes, the white trail and the red trail, wind through Cañas Castilla's tropical dry forest, each numbered post keyed to a plant or tree described in notes kept at the cottage. Old growth Guanacaste, Cenizaro, Pochote, Jabillo and Panama trees shade the path, alongside ferns and orchids. Spider and howler monkeys move through the canopy, and sloths, agoutis, birds, butterflies and reptiles are commonly spotted. A bench along the way invites a rest. The trails are self-guided and free for guests, though a guide can be arranged at extra cost. Good walking shoes and reasonable fitness are needed; rubber boots are recommended in rainy season.
