Calvary Hotel & Restaurant

Set on Kalvarijų Street in Vilnius, Calvary occupies a classicist building dating to the 19th century, once home to a border customs post, Red Army officers, and the city's first police station. Fragments of the original brick remain exposed along the corridors, left bare as a deliberate nod to that layered past. The 65 rooms are dressed with maps of Vilnius from 1840, floor to ceiling, so the corridors and rooms double as a rough timeline of the city outside. Rooms range from compact economy attic doubles of 16 to 18 m² up to business twins and doubles of 20 to 24 m², some tucked under sloped attic ceilings, others with a bath tub in place of a shower. Beds carry goose-down pillows. The restaurant runs on seasonal, largely international cooking, serving breakfast through to à la carte dinner, and a Sunday brunch runs to eggs Benedict and sweet potato pancakes. A boardroom and a larger conference hall, which can combine with the restaurant, hold meetings and events for up to 56 guests. Konstitucijos Avenue lies 500 m off, Cathedral Square under 2 km away, and Vilnius International Airport around 7 km from the door. Reception runs around the clock. It is a compact, city-centre stay built into a building with more than one former life.
